Not guilty plea entered for Kelli Nechkash accused of murdering her estranged husband

At her arraignment on Monday, April 6th, Kelli Nechkash stood mute and a not guilty plea was entered by the Court and the matter was set for a status conference on June 30, 2026. Nechkash appeared in Iowa County Court via video and in custody from the Taycheedah Correctional Institution for the deadly stabbing of her estranged husband in the Village of Ridgeway.

Nechkash, 68, is accused of first-degree intentional homicide. Nechkash was represented in court by her attorney’s Allison Markoski and Jeffrey Erickson. Zachary Leigh was in court for the State of Wisconsin. The Honorable Judge Matthew Allen presiding.

According to the criminal complaint, Iowa County Sheriff deputies were called to a home in the Village of Ridgeway on February 12, 2026, to perform a welfare check. After getting no answer, they went inside the home and found the body of Todd Nechkash, Sr, who suffered over a dozen stab wounds. The death was ruled a homicide.

If convicted, Kelli Nechkash faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of extended supervision. In 2012, Kelli Nechkash was sentenced to prison for 1stdegree recklessly endangering the safety on Todd Nechkash Sr., and attempted arson of his home. The couple remained married but maintained separate residences.
