Rewey – Elaine Bunker – 608-943-6625

March came in like a Lamb. Sunday was a beautiful day, slightly cool, but it’s March this week. Warmer weather and rain are coming. Of the 27 snowfalls predicted, we have had 20 snows with seven to go. Daylight Saving Time. begins on March 8. So Spring Ahead one hour and give yourself a few days to adjust.

Iowa-Grant Schools will have Spring Break March 9-13.so please slow down on the village streets as children may be outside. Reminder – No burnables and small metals will be taken at the treatment plant until further notice.

Our Southwest Wisconsin All-Terrain Club supports our Community all year in many ways. This weekend is your chance to support them. Please mark you calenders for March 7 for the S.W.A.T. ATV/UTV Club Annual fundraiser. It’s at the Rewey Fire Station and begins at noon. They are serving turkey and dressing or pulled pork sandwiches, refreshments with silent and live auctions, gun and other raffles, meat paddles, baked goods and lots of fun. Please support this great group and enjoy good food.

Something different happened in our village last week on Thursday. Around 6:00 in the morning a nice white horned goat was coming up the street by the Last Chance. It made its way to Reid Street and made itself comfortable for a big part of the day. Supposedly it was also spotted by Highway 80 and on Wildcat Road and now it’s in Rewey. With the help of several in the community and social media they figured our the goat’s rightful owner. How it found its way to our village is a mystery because it wasn’t Mr. Ed (the talking horse) – remember that TV show? Are you old enough to have memories of Mr. Ed?

Jimmy is doing well after falling from a ladder trying to unwind the flag that was wrapped around the pole at the home of the Queen of the Corner. Coming to his rescue were the Rewey First Responders and Montfort Rescue Squad.

Tim and Stacy Kuhls took Gary and Sharon Withrow to Potosi on Friday to celebrate Gary’s birthday. They enjoyed the day and all the scenery in the area.

Happy Birthday wishes to Marie Kratochvill as her family and friends gathered to help her celebrate on the 28th.

This foursome enjoys playing cards together. Marie, Ann, Kathy and Bruce always have a great time, except recently things changed as Marie and Bruce SKUNKED Ann and Kathy. The three ladies are in the news more often than Bruce. I don’t want Bruce to feel left out and not mentioning last names, I’ll just say his Place is near Arthur. Who will win next week? Will someone get skunked? Stay tuned for some more results.

Several Iowa-Grant FFA members took part in the Drive your Teacher To School on Friday for FFA Week.

Praise the Lord for the beautiful newly built Free Methodist Church in Livingston. On Saturday they had an open house which many in our area attended. All are welcome and it’s handicap accessible.

This week’s remarkable group includes a long list of many very special people. Congratulations to the Iowa-Grant/Highland Wrestling team on a Great Season! We had six participants at the Individual State Tournament in Madison last weekend. Special shout outs to Brock Hinderman and Griffin Wineski on both winning 1st place and Jaxon Busse on 2nd place. Other qualifiers were: Ty Cutts, Trapper Hoffman and Rohwen Aultman (girls). This area is very proud of our entire team of IGH wrestlers, coaches, cheerleaders, parents, fans, WGLR radio, the announcers and sponsors. We are very thankful for the opportunity to listen and watch the IGH wrestlers this season.
