Ridgeway – Bruce Paull – 608-341-8443

Iowa County was recently mentioned by Meredith Moran in NACo (National Counties Magazine). Mentioned in her article were the Grilled Cheese Championship (April 25th), Folklore Village, Lands’ End, Taliesin, and The House on the Rock. Coverage like this makes Iowa County a destination, not just where you ended up.

Just a reminder that when you donate or leave an endowment locally, the funds stay local. A couple of examples of this that I am familiar with are the United Fund of Iowa County. They recently donated $10,000 to the ADRC of Iowa County to support Home Delivered Meals for older residents across all of Iowa County.

The Aging & Disability Resource Center (on Facebook), recently added a “Donate or Pay My Bill” button for safe, secure money transfers without using a checkbook or postage. Meal menus, transportation options, and information on events are all in one place!

With Easter this week, we need to be careful when driving to avoid hitting the little bunny. It is a busy season as Ridgeway will have him on Friday, April 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. The activities will be at the Ridgeway Community Center, and pictures with the bunny are expected. Santa shared that the bunny may be quiet, but likes the pictures!

As a project for this week, it is the time of year that cemeteries need to be attended to. The week of April 1st is set aside for the Ebenezer Eastside Cemetery in Ridgeway. The artificial flowers will be removed for several reasons. They are far removed from where intended (wind), faded from the sun, and just tattered wear and tear.

The Spring election is on Tuesday, April 7th, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Village of Ridgeway will be at the Ridgeway Community Center. The Community Center is home to the Volunteer Library, Community Room with kitchen, and business space, which are all available to the community. The Town of Ridgeway residents voting will be the same time, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ridgeway Town Hall. If you are not registered, you will need to register, bring a photo ID, and proof of where you live. Not sure of something relating to your voting situation, visit My Vote.wi.gov.

If Bingo is your pleasure, Agrace has the dopamine hit for you! On Wednesday, April 8th, starting at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., yes, for two hours of tense, paying attention to detail fun. This will be happening at the Agrace Dodgeville office located at 316 W. Spring St. Wednesday is the ADRC Taxi day in the City of Dodgeville, if transportation is a concern.

Thursday, April 9th, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. is Senior Social Hour at the Ridgeway Community Center. Anyone who wants to gather, visit, or play games is welcome. This is kind of like an open gym in the multi-purpose room. You select the activity and then pick a puzzle to take home.

I recently had a conversation with some old runaround friends. The common agreement was that when we left the house in the morning, we were expected to entertain ourselves and behave when we were out, which many times was in the woods until hungry, or until the sun went down! Now we hang at the Ridgeway Community Center.

The last indoor Farmers Market is on Saturday, April 11, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The first outdoor market is on May 10th, Mother’s Day. The outdoor market is held at the Ridgeway Ballpark.

The Friends of the Military Ridge is again collecting your bikes in any condition and bike parts to be donated to Bikes for Kids Wisconsin. The trailer is parked at the south end of the Ridgeway Community Center. Bikes for Kids has many volunteers who refurbish bikes and make them available to both adults and kids. This is open to anybody in any community who has a bike or parts to contribute.

The Ridgeway Township Cleansweep is planned for Saturday, April 25th. Items that have a fee include; if they have refrigerant, microwaves, TVs, computer monitors, or tires. The no-fee items include used motor oil and filters, and fluorescent light bulbs. Not accepted are excessive building materials, hazardous materials, chemicals, and liquid paint or stain. I will suggest that if you have latex paint, you can solidify it with kitty litter. The kitty stuff doesn’t work on oil based paint.

The placement of a data center in Ridgeway is real. Both the Village of Ridgeway and the Town of Ridgeway were mentioned in a conversation with the qualified authorities. The latest sermon that makes sense is are you a Fan or a Follower? The fans are the ones that do cheering of others. That thing you do when you watch. The followers are the ones who encourage the family to have faith under a variety of circumstances. It is hoped that Easter means more and lasts longer than until the candy runs out.
