A group of this year’s under class Pointer girls wrestling team took part in the Badger Brawl held at the La Crosse Center the same time their boys team was competing in Team State March 7th.
Emily and Lily Heisner bothbrought home the gold, winning their weight divisions.
Rachel Heisner finished 2nd while Abbey Finley was 3rd and Haylee Yager 4th.
Pointer coach Scott Pittz was proud the girls jumped right back into competition to improve for next year.
“The Pointer girls got a great jump start to next season, getting back on the mat a week after the season ended! Most of our underclassman were not satisfied with how their high school season ended and are already focused on having a big off season to change those results in 2027.
“In a very tough National tourna- ment, Emily and Lily Heisner both brought home gold. Haylee Yager, Abbey Finley, and Rachel Heisner all brought home hardware as well in brackets full of state qualifiers, and place winners from Wisconsin and Minnesota!
“I’m proud of this groups commitment to constantly improving and not backing down from any competition. I’m very excited to watch them continue to compete and grow over the summer!”
