Saturday, March 14 will be the 17th time a St. Patrick’s Day parade will have taken place in the little village of Avoca, located about 20 minutes northwest of Dodgeville on Highway 133.
It began on a wim of two ladies with “zero” funds. The first parade went about a block and a half. Now it goes from the old school house through the downtown.
McIntosh Pride Runs Deep.
Tom and Regina McIntosh have been chosen as Grand Marshalls to reign over the Avoca St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
“They Are Original Avoca”
Tom and Regina (Kosharek) both grew up on farms in rural Avoca. They raised their family on their farm, where a daughter, her husband, and family live today after Tom and Regina retired and moved to town. Tom is a Vietnam Veteran and they have both been very active in the parade from the beginning. They are active in their church, and Regina is active in the Avoca Highland Ladies Auxillary, as well as other community and Riverdale School functions.Congratulations to The McIntosh Family!!
Once again the parade starts at 1 p.m. and will feature a contingent of the UW Band and many more surprises.
Get your green out and welcome spring in downtown Avoca for the St. Patrick’s celebration.
