Lots of fun at Ridgeway Independence Day

There’s always a full day of fun and excitement when Ridgeway celebrates its Independence Day. Events began early last Saturday in the morning with a 5K, 2 mile run/walk followed by youth baseball games and an extended 4-hour Farmers Market. A Suicide Memorial Walk and Butterfly Release was followed by a tasty chicken BBQ. Kids waterfought and had their faces painted. A “New” Doggy Derby took place prior to a Home Talent Baseball Game with fireworks concluding the day. The Drew Halverson Band, Prairie Thunder Cloggers, Jesse Bauman and The Driftless Ramblers and Midnight Angels provided entertainment. Above left shows the Prairie Thunder Cloggers dancing on stage. Next Linda Seeley holds a butterfly before its release. Then a youngster was really into the waterfights between Ridgeway and Barneveld courtesy of the Dickeyville Fire Department. At right, Lois Montague, a Ridgeway Library volunteer, holds her dog before taking part in the Doggy Derby. Her book club is funding the Summer Camp at the Ridgeway Community Center.
