Jones, Frederick "Fred"

Frederick "Fred" Jones, age 72 of Dodgeville, peacefully passed away with family by his side at home in the early morning hours of March 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his family throughout his illness, with frequent visits and support during that time.

 Fred was born on September 14, 1953, to Francis "Casey" and Betty (Beatty) Jones.

Fred worked for G.A. Watson for many years. During his time there, he met the love of his life Barb Ray. The pair married in 1989 and settled in the Dodgeville area. Fred and Barb loved spending time together fishing and boating, going for drives, and dancing at the Red Room and Swans in Linden.

Fred cherished his time with his grandchildren attending their sporting events like football and softball, and wrestling matches. He enjoyed building model cars, fishing, watching rodeos, and deer hunting on the family farm.

Fred will be missed for his sense of humor, his trademark smirk, and contagious good mood.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Henning, twin brother Terry Lee Jones, grandchild Ava Jones, niece Aubrey Ann Henning, mother-in-law Alma Mainwaring, sisters-in-law Beverly Lindauer, Mary Kruzinski, and Connie Cloutier.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Barb; children: Chad (Amy) Jones, Billy (Jamie) Jones, Ricky (Misty) Jones, and Melissa (Tony) Burke; grandchildren: Keegan, Ryker, Isaac, Ethan, Chasadie, Brody, Tyden, Treyvan, Nevaeh, Rhayna, Aspen, Cattalina, Savannah, Hayden, and Neleh; sister Kay Lisney; aunt Beverly Schmitz; special sister-in-law Chrissy Zeigler; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 4:00pm until time of service. A memorial service will begin at 6:00pm.
