Rosa Lee "Rose" Dunbar, age 91 of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, passed away on March 23, 2026 at Mineral Point Health Services in Mineral Point.
Rose was born on August 7, 1934, in Mineral Point to Edgar Wilbur Harris and Freda Elouise Harris. Rose grew up on the family farm outside of Mineral Point surrounded by a large and loving family. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1952. She married James Dunbar on July 12,1952, and together they raised 5 children.
Rose was known for her spunky nature and wonderful sense of humor, qualities that drew people to her and made lasting impressions on everyone she met. She retired as the bookkeeper for many years from Gray's Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. After retiring, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels, delivering food and companionship to neighbors in need. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether she was knitting or crocheting handmade creations for family and friends, arts and crafts, gardening, traveling with her sisters, or trying her luck at the casino.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Dunbar; her son, Charles Dunbar; her brothers, William Harris and Walter Harris; and her sisters, Patricia Prinslow and Barbara Romero, and her sister-in-law, Pat Harris. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Dunbar, Jean (Tom) Burke, and Cynthia (Donnie) Beishir; her son, Steven (Sue) Dunbar; her daughter-in-law, Dane Dunbar, her sister, Debbie (Jeff) Bourgholtzer; her sister-in-law, Joyce Harris; and her brother-in-law, Ralph Romero. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, TJ (Chantal) Burke, Greg Burke, Ali (Dunbar) Cali, Scott Dunbar, Collin Dunbar, Cole Beishir, and Mackenzie Beishir, John Whyte; and her great-grandchildren, Kruz, Zoey, Remi and Rhet Burke, and many other extended family members.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mineral Point Health Services in Mineral Point, WI, where Rose was a resident for the last 4 1⁄2 years, for their exceptional and compassionate care over the years. Mineral Point Health Services became her home, and she enjoyed the staff and the many friends she made. She enjoyed participating in activities, playing cards, playing bingo, and could often be found working on her latest passion, diamond art.
Per Rose's wishes, a private family service will be held in her honor with burial in the Rock Church Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
