Dodgeville Graduates: Start Here...Go Anywhere

Dear Editor,

One of the best parts of serving the Dodgeville School District is hearing from our graduates. I regularly meet people who proudly say they started their journey in our classrooms before going on to work in healthcare, run farms and businesses, serve in the trades, or raise families in communities across Wisconsin and beyond.

When they talk about their time in our schools, they rarely start with a test score or a class assignment. Instead, they talk about discovering something they were good at, a teacher who believed in them, or an activity that helped them find their confidence.

Recently, a graduate shared how the opportunities they had in our schools helped them discover a passion that eventually led to their career. Today they are giving back to others in ways that started with experiences they had growing up right here in our community.

Stories like that are common here. They represent generations of students who began their journey here and carried what they learned with them wherever life took them.

Our community has always taken pride in its schools and in the opportunities provided to students. The classes, activities, and relationships students build here help shape the knowledge, character, and work ethic they take with them after graduation.

Like every district, we also know there are always ways we can continue improving. Education continues to evolve, and student needs change. Fortunately, the Dodgeville School District is home to a strong team of educators and staff who care deeply about helping students succeed and are committed to continuing to strengthen the opportunities we provide.

As we continue hearing from graduates, we would like to begin sharing more of those stories with the community. Beginning with our School Board meeting on Monday, March 16, we will highlight alumni stories so our community can hear directly about the impact our schools have had on the lives of our graduates.

Community members are always welcome to tune in to our School Board meetings, which are held on the third Monday of each month, as we begin sharing these stories as they are received.

These stories remind us that our schools are more than buildings where students learn academic skills. They are places where young people begin journeys that can take them anywhere.

Students truly Start Here...Go Anywhere.
