Cardinal girls handle Potosi/Cassville

Highland’s girls basketball team knows there is value in taking care of the ball.

They did it well thanks to point guard Addison Bedward and her supporting cast Thursday when they hosted Potosi/Cassville.

“P/C plays a strong man to man so taking care of the basketball is important,” Highland coach Josh Tarrell said.

That is where Bedward comes in.

“She is steady and cool out there,” Tarrell said about Bedward.

Sophia Tarrell led the scoring with 14 points and her eight the first half helped the Cardinals to a 28-12 halftime lead.

Celia Oleson, who had 12 points, added seven first half points.

The Cardinals went on to win the Six Rivers match-up 48-23.

Manhattyn Udelhofen led Potosi/Cassville with 12.

“Sophia and Celia had good offensive performances for us,” Tarrell added.

The win keeps the Cardinals tied for first place in the West Division.

The Cardinals  are 7-2 in Six Rivers play and 11-4 overall.
