Oil Fuels Imperialistic Agenda

Dear Editor,

Our elected officials are finally saying the quiet part - the words said under their breath, the subtext beneath so many dubious actions - out loud: it's all about oil.

The USA's recent actions in Venezuela were ostensibly initially about nebulous claims of fentanyl trafficking - never mind that reports indicate the majority of fentanyl arrives via Mexico, with ingredients from China. Similarly, pay no mind to Trump's pardon of convicted drug trafficker and former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernandez.

No, internal logic and consistency is not this regime's strong suit - but finally, perhaps, honesty is. "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country..." per President Trump. There it is, in bold face type - it is all about oil.

The world is already oversupplied with a glut of oil. Renewable energy is the cheapest thing going. EVs are reliable and the infrastructure to power them is exploding. Oil is fast becoming the relic of the past that it once was, and should again be relegated to. Don't tell that to the newly imperialistic Trump administration though - they're determined to wring every last greasy, blood-stained drop from this planet, to hell with the consequences.

Sincerely,

Nathan Dombeck
