Myers, Rosann Marie

BLUE MOUNDS - Our beloved Rosann passed away from a battle with cancer on January 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Monroe, Wis., on April 25, 1956, to Vernus and Clara (Wittwer) Strommen.

Rosann graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1974 and went on to UW-Platteville and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1978. She attained her master's degree shortly after. Rosann married Jim Myers on June 16, 1984, in Blanchardville.

Rosann is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Matthew; brothers, James (Sandy) Strommen and Ronnie; and sisters-in-law, Mareia (Randy) Danz, Donna Myers, Jeanne Myers and Patti Myers (Todd Knutson). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Nick (Lori) Danz, Jessica (Shawn) Fry, Mitch (Shayla) Danz, Megan Salisbury, Kevin (Bobbi) Salisbury, Amy Carr, Craig Anderson and Angie Hendrickson; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Rosann was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Vernus Strommen; her in-laws, Thane and Aletha Myers; and brother-in-law, Doug Salisbury.

Rosann was present in everything that she did. One of her favorite past times was watching Jim coach and Matthew play basketball, as well as watching her brother James coach baseball. She spoke the basketball language and was their biggest cheerleader. She was always waiting in the stands.

Rosann was a teacher first and foremost. She taught first and second grade at Barneveld public schools for 43 years, and she retired in 2021. She loved teaching and prompted her students’ love of learning through creative teaching projects like her annual production of a Shakespearean play put on by her class. She was also a strong proponent of the love of reading.

Rosann had many loves and talents. Some of her favorites were long walks in nature with Jim, exploring the beauty of Door County, working in her flower gardens, a lively game of Horse and Pepper, playing her piano, decorating their home, spending time with family and friends, and shopping for treasures.

In retirement, she found a love for the game of pickleball and all the new friends she met playing. She also enjoyed making sourdough bread. What was dearest to her was her love of Jim, Matthew, family and friends.

Rosann was integral in our lives and has left a lasting legacy. We all have beautiful memories of her, and she will be remembered and cherished in our hearts forever.

The family extends special thanks to the Carbone Cancer Center, Upland Hills Hospice and SSM Health at Home Care staff for their compassionate care and support.

A celebration of life for Rosann will be held at BARNEVELD HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM, 304 S. Jones St., Barneveld, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026. A brief service and a reception in the commons of the high school will follow on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upland Hills Hospice, UW Carbone Cancer Center or the Barneveld Schools Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
