Lone Rock – Steven Charles Morgenson, age 73, of Lone Rock, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.
He was born on April 14, 1952 in Racine, WI, the son of Donald and Bonnie Morgenson. He graduated from Racine J.I. Case High School in 1970 and the enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1971 – 73. In Racine, he worked at Rude Electric and InSinkErator.
Steven married Roberta Brunner on April 2, 1977 in Racine and in 1989 moved to Lone Rock with his family, where he worked at Cardinal Glass until retirement. He then worked part-time at the Richland Center Walmart in the Garden Center for 7 years.
Steve was an active member of the Lone Rock Ambulance for 33 years and the Lone Rock Fire Department for 32 years. Steve also helped start the Lone Rock Explorers program and served on the Lone Rock Village Board for over 20 years. He took great joy in being able to help people and was very proud to have served with many great people over the years.
Steve had a passion for fishing, it didn’t matter if lake, stream or ice, he loved it all. Many fishing trips were enjoyed by friends and with his son. As the grandchildren got older, he also shared that joy with them.
Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years Roberta “Birdie”; his two daughters Teresa (Brian) Kass and Lisa (James) Morgenson; his son Steven (Myra Howard) Morgenson; his grandchildren Mason, Dakota (Sara), Samuel, Chance and Jaxson; his special Pumpkin Gwen, Dallas; his brother Jeff Morgenson; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Bonnie and his brother Michael.
Honoring Steve’s wishes, there will be no formal service. There will be a Celebration of Steve’s Life in February at the LONE ROCK COMMUNITY BUILDING.
The family is deeply grateful and moved by the great care that Steve was given at Upland Hills Health. A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors that made Steve’s last days the best that they could be. He sure thought very highly of you all. God Bless.
