Franzen wants proof
Dear Editor,
Can the Iowa County Historical Society's team please respond to my request to supply proof and backup as it relates to the ongoing narrative and new information exposed that there is an ongoing "Dodgeville Historical Site Fraud and Hoax currently happening?" This Hoax I am claiming in this publication relates to the legitimacy of the "The Henry Dodge Mining Cabin" currently located on Fountain Street in Dodgeville and claims to have been built in 1827.
I sent/included an old newspaper article and photos discovered online during my research that I included with my submission to the ICHS and the Dodgeville Chronicle from a 1927 article featured in the Manitowoc Times July 8, 1927 edition, sourced from a regional (UP) story. The article featured that the Double Five Woman's Club from Dodgeville, WI purchased land in 1927 to erect this 2,000 LB piece of granite used as a marker to honor Henry Dodge's first homestead in 1827. Back in 1926 and 1927, the Double Five Club and their members allocated a tremendous amount of money, time and energy to create this memorial, and to purchase the land, erect the memorial, as all of this was mentioned in a United Press article in 1927 as the "original" and "official" marker of the first home of Henry Dodge.
The real historical area where Dodge built his first mining cabin in 1827 is located 2.3 miles south of Dodgeville on County Road Y. The one in Dodgeville is a Fake and current Hoax and it needs to be removed in early 2026. Also, it needs to be defunded ASAP. Thank you for reading.
