What is a good President?
Dear Editor,
Today is President’s Day and I thought I would review what a good president is. So I just googled it. Here is what the search says:
“A good president is generally characterized by strong leadership skills, CLEAR vision, high EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, and the ability to HANDLE CRISES EFFECTIVELY. Traits include INTEGRITY, courage in decision-making, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, and resilience. They often possess a mix of INTELLECTUAL brilliance, adaptability, and the capacity to UNITE the COUNTRY. The president needs to have a clear vision but also be able to garner SUPPORT from CONGRESS and the PUBLIC. The president needs to respond to unforeseen challenges, keeping COMPOSURE under pressure, and sometimes make unpopular decision eg Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. The president needs to have MORAL AUTHORITY, possess HONESTY, and have HIGH ETHICAL STANDARDS to SET a TRUSTWORTHY EXAMPLE. A president needs to be able to UNDERSTAND EMOTIONS OF OTHERS (eg COMPASSION), build coalitions and CONNECT with the public, (and in my opinion, probably not send a meme of himself flying over the United States and dropping excrement on it’s people, or keeping US citizens and legal immigrants in detention centers). Another attribute is resilience and persistence despite obstacles. And a good president has respect for Institutions demonstrated by a COMMITMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION and the peaceful transfer of power.”
I think I will just leave it there.
