Referendum “Yes” supports our schools

Dear Editor,

I’m Emily Sullivan, and as a Dodgeville graduate who now has the privilege of teaching in this district, this referendum feels incredibly personal to me.

This vote isn’t just about numbers. It’s about the people in our buildings every day — our teachers, staff, and students — and the programs and daily operations that keep our schools running strong. These aren’t “extras.” They’re the basics that allow our schools to be safe, supportive, and successful.

When I think back to my time as a student, I think about the college credit classes, sports, leadership opportunities, extracurriculars, and, most importantly, the relationships that helped shape who I am today. Those experiences mattered. They gave me confidence and direction. Now, I get to watch our current students grow in those same ways — and they deserve the stability and support to keep doing so.

Supporting this referendum means investing in quality staff, safe and well-maintained spaces, updated learning tools, and the overall experience of every Dodgeville student. It’s about protecting what makes our district special and making sure it stays strong for the next generation.

I’m proud to call Dodgeville home, and I’ll be voting yes for our students this April. I hope you’ll consider doing the same.

Sincerely,

Emily Sullivan
