Five Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers head to D3 state

Five Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers made it in the top two at the Brookwood Sectional last Saturday and will represent their schools at the WIAA State Wrestling Individual Championships February 26-28 at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Championships came from 106 lb. Griffin Wineski, 165 lb. Jaxon Busse and 175 lb. Brock Hinderman. Runners up were earned by 113 lb. Trapper Hoffman and 190 lb. Ty Cutts.

Iowa-Grant/Highland coach Ryan Allen was very happy with the results.

“It was an awesome day. I am very proud of this team. To place 2nd in a loaded sectional like that shows just how hard some of these guys have worked all year. Not everything went our way but these guys just kept battling all the way until the end.

“Getting 5 to individual state was a great accomplishment as well. Those 5 guys are all leaders on this team and I hope they can keep it up for our big team sectional tournament on Saturday.”
