Dodgeville – Robert Ernest Scheetz (Bob) passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born on August 15, 1935, in Lafayette, Indiana, where he spent his childhood and young adulthood.

He is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy Berg, Rachael Disheroon (Travis), Lindsay Lange (Michael), Rebecca Ashley (Patrick), Rosalyn Bryan, Nicholas Oliff (Anna), Curtis Oliff (Lilly) and great-grandchildren Margot, Ruby and Gemma Lange, Adalynn and Maddox Ashley, and Easton and Elizabeth Disheroon.
Bob is predeceased by his four loving sisters Peggy, Patty, Jeanie, and Betty Lou and his beloved mother Rose.
Bob graduated from Purdue University, receiving a BS degree in Forestry and as part of his college career spent a summer as a Forest Ranger in the Angeles National Forest in California, bordering the Mojave Desert. He then spent two years stationed in Germany, serving his country in the US Army. He worked as a Landscape Architect for the Indiana State Highway Department, living in Indianapolis, Indiana, until 1968, when he relocated his family to Sterling Park, Virginia, to take a similar position with the Federal Government.
There, he quickly became involved in community service and was President of the Sterling Park Jaycees, Vice President of the Virginia Jaycees and served on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. In his spirit to serve the community, he was also heavily involved in many organizations including the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, Junior Achievement, and the PTA to name just a few. He was a dedicated parishioner, Choir Director, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Herndon, Virginia, and then with Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Sterling, Virginia.
Bob became involved in real estate and was passionate about it. He founded Scheetz and Lovell Realty in the early 1970’s and ran the company successfully for many years. He helped many people purchase/sell their homes and they would become life-long friends. He was an appraiser and member of the Loudoun County Appraisal Review Board.
Bob had an amazing singing voice and was a member of the esteemed Purdue Glee Club, traveling all over the country for performances. He was the Director of the White Angels Nurse’s Choir at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana, of which he was very proud. He would routinely open the Fourth of July festivities in Sterling Park with his singing of the National Anthem and sang at each of his daughter’s weddings. His singing of the Ave Maria in Latin was so beautiful. He sang this song, remembering every word, to all his daughters just two days before his passing.
Bob spent his later years living in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, continuing his appraisal business, and where he remained until his passing.
Bob was a very social and charismatic person, who loved his family and his community fiercely. He will be missed.
A private Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.
