We celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who graced this world for 100 beautiful years, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to the simple joys of life. Lenore Elizabeth Gordon, of Dodgeville, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
She grew up in a loving family of 14 brothers and sisters, born on June 27, 1925, in Linden, Wis., the daughter of Francis and Lydia Mae (Roberts) Fine. Lenore graduated from Mineral Point High School and married Harold Gordon on June 28, 1945. Together they farmed in the Waldwick area and raised their family. In 1965, they moved to Dodgeville. Lenore dedicated time working at Lands' End where she made many friends. In her later years, she continued to stay active in her community, working as a greeter at Walmart, where her friendly smile and kind words brightened the days of countless customers. Never one to stand by idly, she once even stopped a shoplifter—an act that perfectly captured her courage, quick thinking, and strong sense of right and wrong.
She was a good woman of many passions and quiet talents. Known for her sharp mind and competitive spirit, she never passed up a good game of euchre where she delighted in friendly rivalry and time spent with family and friends. A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, she cheered them on through every season, sharing in the triumphs and heartbreaks with equal enthusiasm.
She lived a full and vibrate life, remaining in her own home until the age of 94 after her husband Harold passed away in 2001—a testament to her independence, strength, and unwavering spirit. She took great pride in keeping things just right, and anyone who visited knew they were stepping into a place cared for with love and intention. Outside, her garden bloomed under her attentive care, a living testament to her patience and nurturing spirit.
Family meant everything to her. She is survived by her children: Dennis (Mary) Gordon of Dodgeville, Peggy (Glen) Reger and Betty Jo (Paul) Stude of Mineral Point; seven grandchildren: Christina (Keith) Beatty, Dwayne (Heidi) Gordon, Susan (Robbie Marr) Sargent, Angie (George) Vadyak, Tammie (Steve) Scadden, Kimberly Stude and Jason (Rachel) Stude; 11 great-grandchildren: Katelynn (Wes Ellery) Gordon, Nora (Timothy Stoney) Sargent, Nevaeh Sargent, George Vadyak IV, Ava Vadyak, Drew Scadden, Charlie Scadden, Hailey Stude, Jacob Stude, Mya Stude, Chloe Stude; two great-great-grandchildren: Irelynd and Warren; sister-in-law, Alice Nobel; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Gordon; parents Francis and Lydia Mae (Roberts) Fine; great-grandson Hunter Gordon; 14 brothers and sisters: Clarence Fine, Leila Simpson, Lucille Enger, Worthy Fine, Arnetta Rindy, Clinton Fine, Gladys Nesheim, Chester Fine, Milo Fine, Delmore Fine, Jeanette Reison, Majorie Amenda, Donald Fine, and Joyce Nelson; six brothers- and sisters-in law; as well as other family members. As the last of 14 siblings, she carried their memories with her always. She missed each one deeply, holding them close in her heart every single day until she was reunited with them once more.
Though she lived a full century, it never felt like enough time for those who loved her. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her welcoming heart, and countless small moments that made a lasting impact.
Thanks to everyone at St. Croix Hospice Care, Sienna Crest Nursing Home and Chelsey Wallace Bawden for the tender loving care of our mother.
Lenore will be laid to rest privately at Eastside Cemetery in Dodgeville. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com.
