Library Construction, Super 8 Auction, and Halloween Hours Highlight Dodgeville Council Meeting

At its annual regular meeting, the city council confirmed that Dodgeville’s Trick or Treat hours are set for Friday, October 31, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

It was announced by Mayor Barry Hottmann that the Super 8 Hotel at 1308 North Johns Street is being foreclosed and that a Sheriff’s Sale will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.  The public auction will be held at the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office at 109 East Leffler Street.  

In Reports, Library Director Carrie Portz gave an update on the Library Project.  She will be giving a regular building update on a regular basis.  Concrete footings are being poured this week.  This comes after the contaminated soil that was found stalled the project for a while until that soil was moved.  She said the excavation had to be over excavated beyond what was expected to cause a shoring wall to be engineered and put in place which also caused a delay.  

Additional installation was installed last week in the existing building under the roof.  She mentioned that the furnishings committee has met and started looking at new furniture and hoping to have that order placed by the end of the year.  She said the city has paid the second and third invoices to Daniels Construction and the city has received its second payment from the grant from the state of just over $1 million...
