Electorate sets new tax levy at annual meeting, school board talks referendum w
The Dodgeville school district has a new budget and mill rate after the annual meeting held Monday.
The 13 voters approved a tax levy of $7,418,419.00 with a mill rate of $5.65. The mill rate is down from last year’s amount of $5.80.
The budget presented is balanced and was explained by District Administrator Ryan Bohnsack. He pointed out that what the legislature gave in increases to special education was taken away by a higher amount paid to districts receiving open enrollment students leaving their home district.
Bohnsack pointed out that the majority of the budget goes to salaries, benefits and shared services.
The tax levy passed unanimously.
In other action before the annual meeting:
-Salaries for school board members will stay the same at $1700 per year.
-Board members will be eligible for mileage and other expenses while on school business.
-The board is authorized to dispose of surplus property if it becomes available.
-The board was authorized to set the annual meeting time and date.
Carrie Schroeder was elected to chair the meeting. Jessica Wiecorzek gave the minutes and Randall Thompson the treasurers report.
The regular monthly meeting followed the annual meeting.
