Highland board reviews budget for annual meeting w

The Highland School Board went over the proposed budget for 2026-27 with business director Linda Hebgen at their regular meeting Wednesday.

The review was necessary to have the budget ready for the October 27 Annual Meeting.  The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

One of the high points Hebgen pointed out was the fund balance is currently $1,401,607 which is within the recommended level.  And  may be enhanced by $166,000 which became available at the end of the fiscal year.

Hebgen also said the mill rate is expected to decrease.

Final figures for the budget will be available after the state releases aid funds October 15. She said $2,925,00 could be available via state aide.  She pointed ut that enrollment for the current year is down 22 students.

Hebgen also said debt service will be zero when the roof is paid off at the end of the year.

The complete budget is being published in The Dodgeville Chronicle....
