Eagles take fifth set to down Vikings

Pecatonica and Barneveld had a classic Six Rivers East match-up Thursday that ended up with the Golden Eagles taking  three sets for the win.

The Vikings opened with a 25-17 win then went toe to toe in the second set that went to the Eagles 26-24.  Barneveld followed with a 25-18 win before the Vikings created the need for a fifth set with a 25-23 decision.

Barneveld then survived a fifth set 15-10.

“Good battle tonight against Barneveld,” said Vikings coach Melissa Schlimgen. “Our team started fast and we kept good momentum into the second set, just fell short. I couldn’t be more proud of our team in how they showed up and kept momentum throughout the match.”
