Sawle, Reginald "Reggie"
Reginald "Reggie" Sawle, age 87, of Hyde, passed away on September 24, 2025, following a long illness.
Reggie was born on June 8, 1938, as the fourth child of Theodore and Roma (Rockcastle) Sawle. He spent his entire life in Hyde; a place he called home from birth. On January 16, 1961, Reggie married Carol Dickinson. The couple moved into a house across the valley from Reggie's childhood home, where they raised their daughters, Christine and Angela. After Carol's passing in 2005, Reggie married Gail Melbye on July 15, 2011.
Reggie worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was employed as a trucker and logger; he owned and operated River Valley Lumber and Tie alongside his father for many years. In addition to his own business, Reggie hauled logs for other sawmills throughout south central and southwest Wisconsin. He concluded his career driving a milk truck. Reggie's knowledge of the area was unmatched; whenever he and his family went for a drive, he always knew their exact location, a testament to his years of traveling every back road in the region.
Reggie is survived by his wife, Gail; daughters Christine (Michael) Schram and Angela (Kim) Forbes; three grandsons, Alex (Mylisa Glander) Holmes, Steven (Elly) Schram, and Thomas (Mary Pheng) Schram; five great-grandchildren, Brantlee Holmes, Harper and Morgan Schram, and Theodore and Francis Pheng Schram. He is also survived by his siblings: Abigal Murphy, Theodore Sawle, Jr., Thomas (Betty) Sawle, Charlotte (Dwaine) Westphal, Naiad O'Dell, and Scott (Teri) Sawle.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, sisters Jannette Reason and infant sister Judith, sister-in-law Jeanie Sawle, and two brothers-in-law, Ron Murphy and Pat O'Dell.
Per Reggie's wishes, there will be no services. Memorials can be made to the Hyde Chapel.
