And the list goes on....
Dear Editor,
Trump calls himself a "conservative." Yet he broke social norms and laws by lying, cheating, stealing, adultering, and raping. These offenses, some felonious, were proved in courts of law. Is law-breaking now considered a "conservative" value?
Trump bankrupted companies, jilted workers, and reneged on deals. He spends our money like a spoiled rich kid with unlimited credit. Our national debt is $38 trillion, the highest ever. Where is the tariff and DOGE money going? It doesn't appear to be going to help farmers or hungry children. Billionaires expecting favors gave him $300 million for a grand ballroom. "The East Wing of the White House will remain intact," he said. Now it is rubble. He bought two jets for United States Attorney General Pam Bondi with our money. Meanwhile, health care, living expenses, and groceries continue to inflate for us non-billionaires. Are these decisions considered to be fiscally "conservative"?
He blows up ships with no proof of drugs on board and sends armed, masked ICE agents to arrest brown people, denying them all their legal right to due process. He withholds FEMA disaster money from states like Wisconsin with Democratic governors. Is vengeance a desirable "conservative" quality?
Instead of negotiating an end to the government shutdown, he leaves the country to meet with China. Is this putting America first? "A shutdown falls on the president's lack of leadership," he once said. I agree.
"Conservative" means nothing without substance. Call your legislators and express your concerns today.
Sincerely,
Sue Kies
