Dodgers give Hillmen their first SWC loss
Nathan Johnson shut down Platteville Friday to give the Hillmen their first SWC loss of the season.
The Dodgers moved to 5-2 in the SWC with Platteville at 4-1.
Platteville took a 2-0 lead in the third but the Dodgers came back to win it in that same third inning with a trio of scores.
Jack Graber started the winning inning with a walk and he traveled the bases to score on a long single by Caden Schneider. Schneider scored when Boone Rickard’s grounder was booted. Rickard then scored what proved to be the gamewinner on an error.
Johnson battled the Hillmen for 6 2/3 innings then ran up his pitch count to 100. Graber came on to close and gave up a hit but shut out the Hillmen for the win.
Johnson gave up four hits, two runs, walked three and struck out six.
Dodgeville managed four hits off Trent Mumm. All four were singles and came from Jayce Halverson, Schneider, Graber and Jentry Olson.
