Byrne, Hubert Francis

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hubert Francis Byrne. "Huey," departed this world just three days shy of his 81st birthday. Huey was born on May 5, 1944, raised in the small town of Mineral Point, Wisconsin. There, he developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of his surroundings and remained to serve his community.

Huey was raised and cherished by Francis and Agnes May Byrne. They taught him to value hard work and be kind to his neighbors. His, sometimes gruff, demeanor could not hide his heart of gold. Huey took on multiple roles in his professional life: farming, serving as a police officer, driving school bus, and being patrolman for the Town of Mineral Point. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and friends. Huey was the proud father of four children with his first wife, Sharon.

Huey is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Kieffer, who brought joy and companionship to him. Also surviving are his children: Tammy (Jim), Debbie (Bob), Todd, and Julie. Huey’s legacy continues through his nine grandchildren—Michael (Sarah), Joshua, Matthew (Michelle), Craig (Emmitt), Michaela (Drake), Samuel, Mark (Leah), William, and Elizabeth—and two beautiful great-grandchildren - Opal and Arthur.  Huey also leaves behind a beloved little dog named Sophie.  Family brought him immeasurable happiness.

Huey was an avid lover of the outdoors. He spent many happy hours hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Among his unique contributions to the community was his passion for passing on the history of Mineral Point through guided horse carriage tours. Visitors experienced the local charm through his eyes. His engaging storytelling and broad knowledge made these tours unforgettable. Huey also drove his horse-drawn carriage to provide a memorable experience for wedding couples.  Huey had a memorable trusted horse, named Frank.

Huey’s incomparable spirit lives on in the memories we share and the love we carry in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Huey’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary & Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point.  A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until time of service at the church.  We invite family and friends to join us in honoring a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his generous heart and joyful spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Agrace Hospice Care.

Rest in peace, Huey Francis Byrne. Your legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will guide us always.
