Audrey Legler (nee Butteris) passed away peacefully March 4, 2025, at the age of 82 years. She was born in June of 1942, to the late Fred and Melissa (Dietzman) Butteris.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband Bill (Willis), cherished sons, Robert and Paul Legler, and siblings, Adrian and Avis Butteris and Alyce Stapleton.
Audrey is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann (Mike) Meudt, Fran (Greg) Fritch and Heidi Lindner; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; dear sister Annibelle Aide, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Audrey and Bill built a strong life together farming in rural Belleville and eventually "retiring" in Dodgeville. Audrey loved children and had a home daycare for many years. She was loved by the children she cared for and their families.
Audrey was famously strong willed. She passed away on her own terms, in her own home with her daughters and grandson, Travis, at her side. Audrey worked hard to make a beautiful, welcoming home for family and friends to visit. "No one ever left hungry!" Her favorite pastimes were home and gardening. The yard was filled with beautiful flowers. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles and bragging about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Per Audrey's wishes, the family will have a private ceremony and burial in the spring when the flowers are blooming. The family wants to thank Upland Hills Health and Hospice for their excellent care and attention in her last days.
