Heberlein, Patsy Louise



Patsy Louise Heberlein, age 65, passed away on Friday March 7, 2025, at home as a result of medical issues and MS. Patsy was born November 9, 1959, in Lancaster to Walter and Doris (Bartels) Keene.  She married Peter Heberlein on May 8, 1982, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore.  They farmed near Fennimore and Preston.

Patsy graduated from Potosi High School in 1977 and started working at Fritz Insurance where she spent 9 years.  She then moved to Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Stitzer working 29 years until she retired in 2015. Patsy was a dedicated employee and enjoyed her work.  She was a licensed insurance agent from 1983 until 2017.

Patsy loved her family and especially her grandchildren.  She was proud to be called Grandma and Nana and put together a 1,000-piece puzzle and had it framed for each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed road trips, eating out, mowing grass, and UTV rides. 

An active member of the community, Patsy was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church, Fennimore FFA Alumni, Grant County Farm Bureau, Fennimore Jr. Fair Superintendent, 4-H checkbook auditor for Stitzer G-Getters and Chairman of the Fennimore Fair Ambassador program for many years.  In 2016, she was awarded the Fennimore Fair Person of the Year.

Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Peter, of 42 years and their two children: Jennifer (Nathan) Landon of Lancaster and Jason (Clare) Heberlein of Fennimore. She was a proud grandma of McKinzie, Kayhill, and Kelly Landon and proud Nana to Ella, Faith, James, Grace, Hope, John, Jeffery, Ida, and Jerry Heberlein; 12 grandkids age 12 and under.

She is also survived by five sisters: Judy (David) Laufenberg of Cassville, Jane (Roger) Reed of Lancaster, Debra (James) Udelhoven of Fennimore, Connie (Daniel) Cray of Potosi, and Beth (Dwight) Kuster of Potosi; two brothers in-law and sisters in-law: Thomas (Elizabet) Heberlein of Fennimore and Cheryl (Timothy) Busch of Marshfield, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Doris Keene and her father and mother in-law, Fred & Ella Heberlein.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 14, 2025, at Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial following in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore.   Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday March 13, at the Larson Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, at the church.   A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory.
