Fitzsimmons, Kathryn Marie (Bickford)

Kathryn Marie (Bickford) Fitzsimmons, 94, formally of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Kathryn was born on August 29, 1930, in Livingston to Bert and Laura (Draves) Bickford. She was a 1948 graduate of Monfort High School. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of the Point Baptist Church.

Kathryn was united in marriage to Edwin Donald "Don" Fitzsimmons Jr. on July 22, 1951. She became a dedicated farm wife working on the farm with Don while raising her five beloved children. Her presence was the heart and soul of her family.

Kathryn was very self-sufficient and loved the outdoors. She kept herself busy tending to her gardens full of a large variety of vegetables and flowers. Everything the garden produced went to feeding her family. She always enjoyed sewing and mending clothing for her children. She was so talented that she sewed her own beautiful wedding dress.

As her children grew up and started to marry, she dedicated her time and love to her grandkids, whom she shared countless treasured moments with looking after them whenever she could. She always looked forward to attending holiday gatherings and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and other family events.

Kathryn is survived by her three children: Duane (Barbara) Fitzsimmons, Dwight (Cathy) Fitzsimmons, and Lemoyne Stogin; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fitzsimmons; cherished grandchildren: Cory Fitzsimmons, Amber (Steven) Arrington, Kyle (Brittany) Fitzsimmons, Luke Fitzsimmons, Nathan (Cheyenne) Fitzsimmons, Emily (Steven) Schnering, Molly (Jacob) Martin, Adam Stogin, Alex (Andrea) Stogin, Anthony Stogin, and Laura (Gary) Tatro; along with 16 beloved great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Joy Bickford.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Donald Fitzsimmons Jr.; two sons: David Fitzsimmons and Douglas Fitzsimmons; parents, Bert and Laura Bickford; sister and brother-in-law, Lois (Kenny) Dobson; sister, Carol Bickford; brother, Charles Bickford; and infant brother, Hiram Bickford.

The family offers a sincere thanks to the staff at Sienna Crest and staff from St. Croix Hospice. All the love and care you provided was greatly appreciated.

Friends and family will gather to honor Kathryn's life with a service on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 12:00 pm, at the Point Baptist Church in Mineral Point. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am until the time of service. The burial will be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com

While Kathryn's presence will be deeply missed, her legacy will forever be cherished. She taught us all, through the example of her life and her passing, how to live with grace, compassion, and selflessness, always serving others. She was truly a blessing to everyone she knew.
