John ‘Lee’ O’Flahrity, 71, of Janesville, Wisconsin, passed away in an accident on the farm on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Lee was born January 25, 1954, to John ‘Jack’ and Bonnie (Aide) O’Flahrity, in Dodgeville, WI where he was raised with his siblings. He graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1972. Lee married the love of his life, Jean Ann Bierman, on May 28, 1977. Lee worked at General Motors in Janesville for over 32 years.
Lee found joy in the outdoors and in spending time with those he loved most. Some of his best times were fishing, hunting, and just being at the cabin with his children, and later his grandchildren. He also had many cherished memories with his friends and family exploring the world, taking road trips across the country, bowling, helping out his neighbors and friends with anything, or simply enjoying an evening at home playing cards and telling stories.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jean; his sons Michael (Andrea) O’Flahrity, Daniel (Heather) O’Flahrity, Ryan (Jacki) O’Flahrity, and Tyler (Queena) O'Flahrity; his mother Bonnie O’Flahrity; brother J. Timothy O’Flahrity; sister Peggy O’Flahrity; nine grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Jane O’Flahrity, Kim Sundwall, and Teresa Bierman; brother-in-law Ronald (Beth) Bierman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jack O’Flahrity; brother Thomas ‘Pat’ O’Flahrity; and brother-in-law Ken Sundwall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday July 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 21 S. Austin Rd. in Janesville, friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial in Lee’s name will be established to honor his memory and support causes that reflect his values and spirit, in lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made in his name.
