Shea Thomas Harrod, age 40, of Mineral Point, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his current home in Watertown, Wisconsin.
Shea was born in Dallas, Texas on August 25, 1984, the son of Ted Harrod and Jodie (Wheeler) May. He moved to Mineral Point as a toddler and graduated from Mineral Point High School in 2003. He was a "reel" movie buff - he loved to watch them, learn about them and create them. While still in high school he carried that love and his entrepreneurial spirit into his first career as the creator and CEO of Three Stripes Media where he made many home movies, graduation and wedding videos. As a sophomore Shea exhibited the Grand Champion Steer at the American Royal in Kansas City. As a result, he was given the opportunity to intern at Cerner, now known as Oracle Health, a health IT company. In his first year he attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Texas. The following year he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where his love for the Longhorns continued well past his graduation. During his time at UT-Austin, he studied abroad at the University of Sydney in Australia. In 2007 Shea earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Radio-Television-Film. He used his degree and talents working in Digital Marketing at Lands' End, The City of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, City of Enid, Oklahoma and most recently The City of Watertown, Wisconsin.
Shea was passionate in his love of horseracing. He attended countless horseraces, tracks and loved his time at many Kentucky Derbies. He parlayed his love of the ponies into a percentage owner of a racehorse, "Munny Problem." Shea made as many connections and friends in the horse racing world as he did everywhere he went. And Shea "went" a lot. He loved to travel! He loved a good road trip - near or far. His spontaneous nature meant he was always up for an adventure whether it was to discover a new supper club, listen to live music or simply dragging family and friends along for whatever shenanigans he could get into.
Shea is survived by his parents; Jodie and Bobby May of Mineral Point and father Ted Harrod, Jr. of Texas. He is further survived by his siblings; Jacqualine Harrod (Kevin Frija) of Florida, Brock (Aubri) May of Mineral Point, Lauren May of Oklahoma and Zach Dickinson (Lexi) of Texas. He is further survived by his nephew Hudson Frija and nieces Blayke, Brighton and Bradli Jo May. He leaves behind two of his grandmas, Mert May and Leslie Wheeler along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all of which had a very special place in his heart.
Shea is preceded in death by his grandparents El and Delores Weinbrenner, Darryl and Patricia Wheeler, Ted and Jacqualine Harrod and Harry May, as well as his beloved Aunt Sue Gevelinger. To know Shea was to love him.
