Oimoen, Gregory James

BARNEVELD - Gregory James Oimoen, 26,082 days old, was a clever, loving husband, father, and papa. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He was born on February 5, 1954, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Vernon and Ruby Oimoen.

Greg graduated from Barneveld High School in 1972. In 1981, Greg married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara Oimoen, where they resided on the home farm in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. Greg dedicated 35 years of his life to farming which included dairy and beef cattle. Though he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to farming, Greg always made time to do what he loved: spending time with his family and friends, traveling, hunting, fishing, and watching Wisconsin’s sports teams. For many years, he cherished his annual elk hunting trips out west with his friends and wintering to South Padre Island, Texas, with Barb. His greatest title was becoming Papa as his grandchildren filled him with so much joy. One of Greg’s most remarkable qualities was his ability to fix anything and everything. He believed in fixing things, not replacing them; he never threw anything away because he ‘might need it someday.’ Greg was a lifelong learner himself, who was eager to share his knowledge, and anyone fortunate enough to spend time with him learned a thing or two. His presence brought endless laughter, an incredible sense of humor, and stories which will be told for many years to come.

Greg is survived by his children, Cory (Melanie) Oimoen, Kelly (Kelly) Oimoen-Bertram and Sheila Hittesdorf; sisters, Jean (Pat) McGraw, Jackie (Jerry) Hodgson, Peggy (Steve) Tennant and Patti (Tim) Anderson; sister-in-law, Pat (Larry) Bergemann; and grandchildren, Oliver and Myles Oimoen, Adelynn and Makayla Bertram, and Branch and Teagan Hittesdorf; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Barb.

A funeral service will be held at Barneveld Lutheran Church, 505 Swiss Lane, Barneveld, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with Pastor Rhia Strohm presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for supporting the Barneveld community, as Greg always found great joy in giving. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Dad, your impact on others over your lifetime is immeasurable and will live on. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We love you always & forever.
