Zero increase in State Per Pupil Funding, compensation increases, and other Barneveld School Board business taken care of

The Barneveld School Board started its Wednesday meeting with Vice President Nick Meyer sending sympathy and condolences on behalf of the Barneveld School District and School Board to the Segebrecht, Pohlman, and Doescher families for the loss of their matriarch, Dorinda Segebrecht. 

In recognition, Superintendent Robyn Oberfoell welcomed its new Secretary/Office Manager Alexis Arneson.  She has a business and marketing degree, and the school looks forward to her positivity and ambition for the office.  She also congratulated and sent best wishes to second-grade teacher Stephanie Lemery who was recently married and became Stephanie Runde.  She also said the open Library Media Specialist position is the only staff position not filled but that they do have a good prospect for the position.

In her Superintendent’s Report, Oberfoell shared the latest updates with the 2025-27 State Budget pointing out to the Board that one of the pieces that will have the most impact on taxpayers is the zero increase to Per Pupil Funding in the next two years beyond the $325 per pupil per year, which was promised in the last budget.  “The $325 increase per year does not keep up with increases in goods and services, so the burden to make up the difference will be passed on to taxpayers again,” she said....
