Not sure about how to proceed

Dear Editor,

Not sure about how to proceed.

Happened twice this weekend.

Two different farmers markets.

Two different vendors.

Same price though. $6.00 a dozen for fresh picked sweet corn.

Planned to share with 4 other people as 12 are too much for us.

When I got home Saturday, for whatever reason, I peeled back the husk at the top of one cob.

Small black moving worms.

Went through all the cobs finding light brown mush, blackened areas, and more worms.

In the end, only 5 “healthy” cobs.

So on Sunday, explained my experience to the 2nd vendor who said what I described is common this year. But I watched as that vendor “supposedly” went through each cob to “weed out” those affected.

At home, I discovered only 6 “healthy” cobs and of those, two had teeny tiny kernels (not nearly mature enough to pick).

Not sure about how to proceed.

Anyone?
