Cell phone use continues to be board topic at Highland
The Highland School Board spent a good share of their meeting Wednesday firming cell phone use for the next school year.
A handful of students attended the meeting to hear how their cell phone use will be affected.
Superintendent Josh Tarrell presented a study that discussed cell phone bans at Darlington, Argyle, Mount Horeb and Edgewood. All are in different stages with their policies.
It was noted that the shooting incident that took place at Mount Horeb last year was intensified by how cell phones were used and the dangers they posed for safety personnel and the kids in general.
It was also noted that some districts require phones to be kept in lockers or pouches and in some instances left in cars.
Tarrell pointed out that 90% of the districts in Wisconsin have some form of cell phone restriction. He added that if cell phone use is allowed it takes place in common areas and not in classrooms...
