Along The Ad Routes

Cars & Coffee was scheduled for last Saturday morning in downtown Dodgeville on the streets outside of the Chronicle office and in the courthouse parking lot. There was a little drizzle for awhile in the early hours, probably cutting down a little on the vehicles showing up. Still there were probably 60 vehicles on display and a well decent crowd of spectators. I know that Cathryn’s Market and Quality Bakery were both very busy!

With the Cars & Coffee going on, since Terry, Tom and Potsie and sometimes Bob all bring vehicles, we stay in town for our Saturday morning breakfast. We went to Jimmy’s with Jen as our waitress. Besides Terry, Bob, Tom and Potsie there was me at the table with Terry’s son, Bill. I was told by Jerry Whitford that I walk like an “old man” when I walked in. I told him “I am old”! I almost, and I mean almost, didn’t finish my House Skillet, but I made it through. I was a little late - sleeping in - but only by a few minutes (7:00 start). We made it to the downtown really close to 8:00.

Today, Thursday, July 17 is International Sister City Day. how many know what our Sister City is? Here’s little Dodgeville history and about its Sister City: “Dodgeville is one of Wisconsin's oldest cities, being the sixth oldest European settlement in the state, and at a time was the largest city in Wisconsin. The city is twinned with Oakham, Rutland, United Kingdom.” Dodgeville was twined with Oakham at a ceremony held at the park at the southeast corner of the old Dodgeville General Hospital using skype before I even knew what that meant - courtesy of Lands’ End.
