Mary Josephine “Mary Jo” May was born on September 15, 1945, to Helen (Paulas) and Frank May. She passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2025.
Mary Jo was a lifelong resident of Mineral Point and graduated from MPHS in 1963.
She worked at Sokol Crystal Products (now Wi2Wi) from 1976 until her retirement last month.
Mary Jo loved her family, her job, the Packers, Badger football and Friday night fish fries. She had an infectious laugh when telling stories or watching her favorite sitcoms.
Her stories included memories of growing up on their family farm, showing cattle, riding horses and time spent on a neighboring farm with the Harry & Mert May family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (Tom May, Ron May, Judy Vanderipe), her nephew (Kerry Bentz) and her special dog (Stella).
She is survived by her sons (Ryan and Billy Hall), her sister and brother-in-law (Fran and Roger Bentz), her sister-in-law (Janet May), her grandchildren (Casey Hall and Colton Berg), her great grandchildren (Penelope and Lorelei Berg) and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr Gary Grunow, Dr James Runow, UW Hospital staff and Mineral Point EMTs.
A private service for family and close friends will be held at St Mary’s/St Paul’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point (date to be determined). Burial will be in. St Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mineral Point Rescue Squad in her memory.
