Charlene A. Blotz (Shippy), age 81 of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living.
Charlene was born on December 30, 1943, in McConnell IL, to Lawrence and Lottie Shippy. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Lena-Winslow High School, Class of 1962, and married John “Jack” Blotz on June 15, 1968. Together, they shared 57 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith and family.
Charlene was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to raising her children and helping run the family farm, which they purchased in 1970, Charlene worked at Lands’ End for 28 years.
Charlene had a deep love for sewing, gardening, and baking, especially when she could share those joys with her family. She also treasured her friendships and her involvement in the community, participating for many years in a women’s bowling league and a local card club.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, John Blotz; her sons Dan (Dawn) Blotz of Darlington WI, Dustin (Kristen) Blotz of Cottage Grove WI; her stepson Steve (Jo Dee) Argall of Lancaster WI; eight grandchildren Hannah (Mike), Kyle (Haily), Zach, Aidan, Jackson, Vince, Colton, and Tristen (Rebecca); eight great-grandchildren Kaedyn, Austin, Aivy, Hayden, Braden, Chase, Natasha, Bentley, with one on the way, along with many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children and all three siblings: Phyllis Broge, Jerome Shippy and Joan Elsworth as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18th at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point WI. A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME Mineral Point, WI and also on Friday from 10:30 AM until time of Mass at the Church.
Following the Memorial Mass, a celebration of Charlene’s life will be held immediately following the services at Cow Tippers Pub and Eatery in Mineral Point to remember and honor her life.
The family would like to extend healthful thanks to the compassionate teams at Sienna Crest Assisted Living and Agrace Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Charlene.
