Staff compensation discussed by Dodgeville School Board

The Dodgeville School Board will look for ways to better compensate their staff.

After approving a 2.95% raise, salary only, it was pointed out that it isn’t enough to make up for the increase cost for insurance.

“We appreciate our staff and want to do better for them,” said board president Carrie Schroeder. With that, District Administrater Ryan Bohnsack was charged with looking at some increase in funding.  What the state does with the budget will no doubt have some impact.

The board spent 45 minutes in closed session discussing positions for the 2025-26  school year. In open session they named Bryan Brom as middle school principal, Michelle Latterell as a middle school teacher, Maxwell McNett for music and Jason Knoll as Charter School Administrator and part time Dean of Students at the middle school.

Roles and responsiblities of the administrative team were also defined.

The board received a report from Bohnsack about a board goals survey.  The two top goals were financial stability and retention of staff.  Bohnsack said there was a scattering of other areas of concern.

Bohnsack said the plan is to develop a top 10 then trim that down to two or three.  The results will be available at the July meeting and will be shared with the community..
