Several big performances for Knights in win

There were several standout performances in a 16-1 win by the Dodgeville Knights over the Ridgeway Cardinals Saturday.

When it came to pitching Jakob Kastenholz needed only 73 pitches to turn in a complete game win. He spaced four hits, had no walks and struck out seven. He also had an immaculate inning in the third.

Pitching was not Kastenholz’s only forte for the day. He also went 4x4 at the plate with two home runs.

Grant Hying also had a day for the Knights. He was 4x5 with seven rbis. He had a three run home run in the seventh after drilling a grand slam in the fourth.

Sean Reilly was a third heavy contributor. The Knights catcher got his team untracked in the top of the first with a two run home run. He finished 3x4 with five rbis which included a three run shot in the fifth.

The Knights also got hits from Brock Henkel, Nick Cullen and Grant Roh.

The Cardinals scored their lone run in the fifth. Drake McVay singled and scored on a ground out by Keaton Durni.

Ayden Halverson, McVay, Aiden Murphy and Bryce Vamstad, who doubled, had the four Ridgeway hits.

Murphy, Cayden Holtzman and Miles Rolli all took a turn on the mound for the Cardinals.

The game was a Western Section match-up for Ridgeway’s July 4 event.
