Highland board adds to Fund 46

Highland’s school board was able to put some money into their capital improvements fund after reviewing the end of the fiscal year report.

The board, in a special meeting Thursday, learned they had $665,882 remaining in their budget but noted some of that will be needed for end of the fiscal year payments.  They determined they have up to $360,000 they can put into Fund 46.  Funds in that account are different than Fund 10 which has a waiting period before use.

The board unanimously voted to put up to $360,000 into Fund 46.

In other financial matters District Administrator Josh Tarrell said he attended the annual meeting of the Village of Highland and learned that after the audit $50,000 will be returned to the district.

Tarrell also reported that a family is donating $10,000 to the district and has asked for ideas of where the money can be used.  Helping fund the 250th anniversary of the school celebration was mentioned as a possible use.

The board discussed cell phones in school and decided that in special cases the administration and parents can meet and discuss.

Also during Tarrell’s report it was noted that Wisconsin is sixth in the nation in quality education.

The board voted to approve a second reading of seven EDGAR policies.

In a final matter the board tabled administration and non-union support staff salary decisions while further work is done to fine tune the packages.
