The 39th Annual Iowa County Farmers Appreciation Day will take place in Dodgeville Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13.
The theme “Wisconsin Agriculture: From Farmland to Our Hands” will be prevalent on posters and floats that can be seen in Sunday’s parade that starts at 11:00 a.m. It runs through downtown Dodgeville.
Events actually begin Saturday morning at 8:00 when the Dodgeville Farmers Market will be held from 8:00-11:30 in the Methodist Church Parking Lot.
At 5:00 p.m. until dusk, Upland Hills Health will host “Sip & Savor: A Taste of Southwest Wisconsin” at Harris Park.
Saturday evening will conclude at dusk when a huge display of fireworks will be set off at Harris Park that can be seen from all over the area.
Sunday is filled with events starting out with the Farmers 5K Run that begins at the high school at 8:30 a.m. It is sponsored by the Dodge-Point Running Club.
At 10:00 is something new this year as a special Iowa County Farmers Market will be held at the BMO Parking Lot, next to the Iowa County Courthouse.
The parade is next beginning at 11:00 that will feature bands, floats, treats being handed out by many businesses and groups, antique tractors, vintage vehicles, farm equipment and more. Parade Marshals for the parade is the Dean Thomas (Cobb) family.
Following the parade, everything moves a short distance to the Iowa County Courthouse Parking Lot where you will find: live music by Tristan Kenyon, pedal pulling, steak sandwiches by Iowa County Farm Bureau, pork sandwiches by Iowa County Pork Producers, deep fried cheese curds by Dodgeville Lions Club, pie by Upland Hills Auxiliary, fresh cheese curds, kids’ activities, petting zoo, horse drawn wagon rides, awards given out and more.
