Bullets score winning run in 11th to tip Rockies

In a game dominated by pitching it took a hit batter with the bases loaded to send Blanchardville to a 3-2 win over Hollandale in 11 innings in a Western Section game Friday.

Rockies relief pitcher Ethan James nicked Elijah Knutson with a pitch to send in Hunter Enloe who entered the game to run for Brooks Chandler who started at second by the extra inning ghost runner rule. Drew Schliem then reached on catchers interference and Dakota Doescher received an intentional pass to load the bases.  James then hit Knutson to force home Enloe with the winning run.

Most of the night it was strikeout after strikeout for the opposing pitchers.  Aiden Fishnick, who pitched for D1 UW-Milwaukee this spring, struck out 14 in nine innings. James pitched the 10th and fanned two.

Hunter Enloe fanned 10 in his nine innings. Tyler McKeon worked the next two and struck out four while earning the win.

The Rockies scored their two runs in the first. Trey Gordon reached on an error and scored on a passed ball.  Kasey Helgenson singled and scored when Kyle Thompson’s grounder was misplayed.

Blanchardville scored two in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Drew Schliem and Dakota Doescher stroked singles and scored on a hit by Knutson.

Doescher and Schliem had 2x4 nights at the plate for the Bullets.  McKeon, Knutson, AJ Hendrickson and Cole Breuer all had one hit.

Helgeson was 3x5 for the Rockies.  while Chase Ignatius and Trenton Owens had a hit each.
