Ruth Ann (Cushman) Weier Dorner, age 77, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Mineral Point Health Services.
Ann was born on June 17, 1948 the daughter of Ruth (Walters) and Clarion Wilburn Cushman. Ann’s mother died at Ann’s birth. Ann was raised by her grandparents Mary Elizabeth and Fay Thomas Cushman, and in later years by her aunt and uncle, Beverly and Dahl Cushman.
Ann attended the Peniel School through sixth grade and then the Mineral Point School District, graduating in 1966. Ann received her LPN degree from Madison Area Technical College and her RN degree from Southwest Tech. Ann worked at VA Hospital in Madison, Memorial Hospital of Iowa County and retired from Bloomfield Manor. Ann was a wonderful, caring nurse and it showed by the excellent care she gave throughout her 39 years as a nurse.
Ann married Steve Weier on September 10, 1966. They were blessed with two daughters, Stephanie Weier and Jannette Weier Burrill, both of whom are deceased.
Ann later married Richard Dorner on September 7, 1991 and they shared a wonderful life together, until Dick’s passing on August 12, 2005.
Ann is survived her siblings, Royal (Earlene) Cushman, Dixie (Bob) Smith and Sharon (Jimmy) Youder; her brother-in-law Dan Barosh; her stepbrother Chuck (Suzan) Cushman; her stepsister Judy Hockett; two stepdaughters, Sheri (Rick) Ayers and Deann (Mike) Spurley; three stepgrandsons, Travis, Tyler and Trevor Ayers, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Clarion Cushman, her step mother Thelma, her two daughters Stephanie and Jannette Weier, her husband, Richard Dorner, her sister Jan Barosh, her step brother Charles Williams, her step sister Glenda Smith and her special uncle and aunt Dahl and Beverly Cushman; many other relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mineral Point.
