School referendum will ask for $2,490,000 for operating expenses, vote will be at April election


Voters in the Dodgeville School District will be asked to allow the revenue limit to be exceeded when they go to the polls April 1.

The Dodgeville School Board passed a resolution Monday asking that the revenue limit be allowed to be exceeded by $2,490,000 beginning with the 2025-26 school year.  The revenue generated will be used for operational expenses and would be recurring.

At the last election the board asked that the revenue limit be allowed to be exceeded by $2,900,000. Voters rejected that ask so the board has pared the figure down along with making some cuts.

The referendum that failed was somewhat of a surprise.  A company the board hired to survey residents and determine what they would approve ended up short for yes votes.  If the new number passes the board is still looking at cuts as deep as 10%.  The cuts would affect every aspect of the school’s operation....
