County Board hears plans for bicentennial in 2029
In 2029 Iowa County will observe its bicentennial, 1829-2029, and Facilities and Grounds Director Jacob Tarrell wants the courthouse to be ready.
Tarrell shared a potential plan he has to create a new look for the veterans’ memorial area which will serve as both a destination and a history lesson. He wants to incorporate the four areas of the county seal, each having its own area to tell its story.
Tarrell has been focusing on the veterans area which will be part of the history. The four areas are history, agriculture, mining and scenic.
Tarrell showed drawings donated by Jewell and Associates that will portray what the county has been about over the 200 years. The Iowa Indians will be part of the history portion and each municipality will have a chance to be featured...
