Roselyn Prochaska Callin Voigts, age 98, of Dodgeville passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at CrestRidge Memory Care Dodgeville. She was born June 29, 1926 in Wingville Township, Montfort WI, the daughter of Edward F. and Mayme (Nechvatal) Prochaska. She married Robert Callin on June 5, 1948 in St. John Nepumoc Catholic Church at Castle Rock Ridge in Grant County. Bob Callin passed away in 1991. Roselyn married Guerdon Voigts in May, 1992 and they resided in Belmont, WI.
Roselyn was a 1943 graduate of Montfort High School and graduated from the Platteville Teachers College two years later. She taught multiple grades in one room schools, starting at Breezy Hill near Fennimore and then at Patch Grove. Her last teaching position was at the Bloomfield school in Linden Township on County Road Q, between Mineral Point, Linden and Dodgeville. She retired from teaching to raise her family on the Callin farm in Bloomfield. She was active in the St. Joseph Catholic parish - Dodgeville altar society, the Southwestern WI Deanery of the Catholic Diocese of Madison, and the local homemakers club. While living in Belmont for 30 years she was a member of the St. Philomena Catholic parish.
Roselyn was a tireless mother, farmwife and friend giving of her time and heart without any expectations in return. She was known for her great cooking, love of life and genuine joy she shared with her large family. Favorite pastimes included gardening, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing games with friends and especially her fourteen grandchildren. Roselyn and Bob were avid dancers, traveling frequently to see their favorite dance bands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Callin in 1991, her 2nd husband Guerdon Voigts in 2023, her siblings Bernard (Mary) Prohaska, Lavern (Lorraine) Prochaska, Loretta Thym, Rita (Bob) Imhoff, Ervin Prochaska, her brother-in-law Willard “Bud” Bowers, her son James Callin, her granddaughter Adrienne Callin and her son-in-law Jeff DeVoss.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ellen Bowers of Montfort; her sister-in-law Jean Prochaska of Montfort; her son Larry (Cindy) Callin of Castle Rock, CO; her daughters Linda Toney of Spartanburg, SC and Julie DeVoss of Mineral Point; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great granddaughter; her brother-in-law Pat Thym; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, step children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the church. Immediately following the Mass, there will be celebration of life held at the Red Room in Dodgeville. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Laxey Cemetery in Linden Township.
Roselyn will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, instant smile, warm heart and pleasant demeanor to everyone she encountered.
