Beattie, John K.

John K. Beattie, age 77 of Dodgeville, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born in Boscobel to Kenneth and Shirley (Mallat) Beattie on February 16, 1947. He graduated from Boscobel High School in 1965. John went on to attend Madison Area Technical College for one year before enrolling at UW-Platteville and graduating in 1972. He taught in Dodgeville for 37 years until he retired in 2009. John was an avid movie-goer and loved attending sporting events at Dodgeville.

He is survived by his mother Shirley Beattie of Boscobel, sister Jean (Ed Edwards) Roth of Boscobel, nephew Jonah (Christina) Roth of Fennimore, great-nephews Brody and Cashton Roth of Fennimore, along with other relatives, and friends. John was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Beattie and nephew Jeremiah Roth.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Duke’s Brew Pub, 105 E. Chapel Street, Dodgeville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences can be left at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.
