County vested in keeping SUN program strong


If there are any questions about  the Iowa County keeping the SUN program going the committee chairman, Mel Masters, has answered that.

Masters said, "We want to thank the community for their support of SUN over the years.  We are especially grateful for the all the workers and volunteers who help make this happen every day. We are also thankful for the numerous donors and participant donors who give generously to SUN. We appreciate the participants who have been patient and understanding through some of the negativity lately.  We will make this program solvent and keep it performing at a high level for years to come." 

So, expect senior citizens and those wanting do whatever it takes to remain in their own homes to be served a hot, nutritious meal through the SUN program ona regular basis.

SUN stands for Seniors United for Nutrition.  It is overseen by ADRC and operated under the following guidelines.

“The mission of the Seniors United for Nutrition Program, Inc. (SUN) is to support and assist seniors 60 and over by providing hot nutritious meals, home delivered or in a group setting, to promote fellowship, reduce isolation, and to provide prevention programming to assist in maintaining independence and involvement in their community....
